Yesterday in Vianden, Agrciculture Minister Fernand Etgen was there to open the European LINC event in Vianden, an initiative aimed at promoting connections between Europe's LEADER regions through the exchange of knowledge in the field of rural development through sports activities in order to strengthen the networking of the participants.

LINC — "LEADER Inspired Network Community” — was launched in Austria in 2010, with three-day events every year in different LEADER states. This year, it was the turn of the five LEADER regions of Luxembourg.

LEADER — "Link Between Actions for the Development of Rural Economy" — is a European initiative whose objective is to mobilise the inhabitants and support them to carry out projects in order to revitalise the rural areas.

LINC makes it possible to promote Luxembourg’s LEADER regions and their projects to a wide audience of local players from all over Europe - 300 participants from 19 different European countries this year. It is therefore also a vector of promotion for the work of rural development as a vector of tourism promotion for our rural areas.

On Thursday 11 May, the "LINC Walk" will take place, a gourmet walk of about 9km, in the presence of Mr. Georges Christen. Departure is at 09:30 at the Larei Cultural Center in Vianden. The official closing ceremony of LINC 2017 will take place from 19:00 with the prize-giving ceremony to the winning teams of the LINC Walk, the presentation of the organiser of the conference in 2018 and the transfer of the flag.
