The Luxembourg Minister of Health, Lydia Mutsch, will participate in the Health section of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs (EPSCO) Council taking place in Luxembourg on Friday 17 June 2016.
At the meeting, the 28 EU health ministers will proceed to the adoption of three texts on antibiotic resistance, the balance of European and national pharmaceutical systems, and improving food products.
The Council will also be an opportunity for France to present its candidate, Philippe Douste-Blazy, for the post of Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), which will be available in 2017. The physician and former minister is campaigning to succeed Margaret Chan, who has been in office since 2006.
Prior to the Council, Lydia Mutsch will chair the meeting of socialist and social democratic Health Ministers of the EPSCO Council, devoted to issues on the Council's agenda.
