The Romanian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Cristian Badescu, and the Luxembourg Secretary of State for Culture, Guy Arendt, have signed a new executive programme under the cultural agreement concluded in 1994 between the two countries.
The working document, signed during a state visit of the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, and his wife to the Grand Duchy, primarily covers the fields of culture, education, science and sport.
Luxembourg and Romania share strong cultural relations, which have been enhanced by the renovation of a historic house in Sibiu as well as the European Capital of Culture 2007 in Luxembourg and in Romania.
In general, the executive programme will aim to promote exchanges between the two countries with regards to culture, education, science and sports. It will cover the period 2016-2021 and serves as a working basis for implementing projects agreed between the respective administrations. The executive programme also provides for strengthening ties with Sibiu.
