The Foreign Ministers of NATO gathered in Brussels on Thursday to take stock of the challenges the Alliance is facing and to address preparations for the Warsaw Summit being held this July.
Chaired by the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, the meeting was devoted to projecting stability beyond the borders of the Alliance and what could be done to maintain support for Iraq in terms of a training and a possible strengthening of the role of the Alliance in the Mediterranean and Libya.
The ministers present, among the Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn, also focused on NATO's relations with Russia.
The ministerial session was also an opportunity for Montenegro to sign the Protocol of Accession to NATO. Montenegro can now participate in all NATO meetings as an observer. Once all Allies have ratified the Protocol, Montenegro will become the twenty-ninth member of the Alliance.
