Luxembourg Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Consumer Protection, Fernand Etgen, is in Brussels today to participate in the Agriculture and Fisheries Council of the European Union.
Following the announcement earlier this month that Luxembourg law is to re-classify animals as non-human living beings, animal welfare and the establishement of an EU platform on the subject will feature on the agenda at Tuesday's Council. Agriculture and climate, the market situation and the simplification of the Common Agricultural Policy will also be discussed, with the Commission providing the state of play and future steps to be taken.
