On Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 April 2016, Jean Asselborn will be in Berne at the invitation of Swiss Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Didier Burkhalter.
Discussions between the Luxembourg Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister for Immigration and Asylum, and his Swiss counterpart will focus on bilateral relations between the two countries, before addressing EU matters of common interest. The ministers will also exchange views on international politics, dealing primarily with the migration crisis and the situation in the Middle East.
At the invitation of the Association suisse de politique étrangère (ASPE), Minister Asselborn will also visit the University of Bern to give a speech on the theme of 'Kleinstaat und nationale Souveränität in der Europäischen Union' (Small States and National Sovereignty in the European Union').
