On Thursday 7 and Friday 8 April 2016, Luxembourg’s Minister of Agriculture, Fernand Etgen, is attending the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) 21st meeting of agricultural ministers from OECD Member States and partners.
The meeting will be focusing on "Better policies for a productive, sustainable and resilient global food system". The ministers will be discussing the new policies needed to achieve this shared goal and will discuss what to do to refocus existing policies in this direction.
This meeting falls in line with several other major high-level events concerning the Agriculture Ministers: the meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the G20, held in May 2015 under the Turkish Presidency of the G20, the UN Sustainable Development Special Summit in September 2015, the COP21 in November-December 2015, the WTO Ministerial conference in December 2015 and the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) held in Germany in 2016.
