Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna, met with the Finance Minister of the Swiss Federal Council, Ueli Maurer, in Bern in Switzerland on Tuesday 15 March 2016.
The two Officials discussed the macroeconomic situation in Europe as well as the main international, financial and taxation matters.
Minister Gramegna and Minister Maurer often find themselves to have common interests on various topics, and the meeting in Bern on Tuesday focussed on seeing Luxembourg and Switzerland discussing the similar challenges both are facing. The ministers discussed the Automatic Exchange of Information, an attempt at information sharing that Luxembourg and other nations have already commenced to implement.
The ministers also talked about the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) initiative that is currently in the early stages of implementation in both countries.
Minister Gramegna also participated in meetings concerning the economic development in Luxembourg led by Luxembourg for Finance in Geneva and Zurich (Switzerland) on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 March 2016 respectively.
