Luxembourg's Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity Economy, Nicolas Schmit, and the Minister of Social Securty, Romain Schneider, are both participating in the EU Council meeting on Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs (EPSCO) that is taking place in Brussels today, Monday 7 March 2016.

The focus of the meeting will lie on the new skill strategy being prepared by the European Commission for the end of the first half of 2016. The Ministers will primarily discuss the issue of the development of skills adapted to digital changes underway. During an informal lunch they will also be able to discuss the challenges facing older job seekers and workers.

Minister Schmit, in his position as co-chair of EPSCO, along with the Lithuanian Minister of Finance, Rimantas Šadžiusjoin, will also be meeting Ministers of Labour, Employment and Finance from other EU Member States as well as socialists and social democrats devoted to the strengthening of the social dimension of the European economic and monetary union.
