On 9 and 10 July 2015, an informal meeting will be held in Luxembourg between the ministers of Justice and of Internal Affairs.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Homeland Security, Etienne Schneider, will chair the 'homeland security' part of the meeting, which will be comprised of several sessions. At the first working session, talks will focus on the fight against terrorism, with ministers briefed on the Counter-Terrorist Group (TAG) and efforts in the last few years to strengthen cooperation between security services and intelligence agencies in the fight against terrorism.
The second session will be dedicated to the topic of cyber-terrorism and cyber security, with specific presentations held by European and Luxembourg experts underlining the fact that new information technologies can be either the target or the tool of cyber-terrorism.
Minister Schneider will also chair a joint working lunch with Minister for Immigration and Asylum, Jean Asselborn. This lunch will be attended by Ministers of Immigration and Homeland Security to discuss the combatting of refugee smuggling.
Minister Asselborn will later chair sessions in the afternoon which will be devoted to external aspects of relocation of migrants and internal factors in the matter of asylum.
On the second day of the informal meeting, Minister of Justice Felix Braz will lead talks on the fight aganst fraud and protecting the financial interests of the European Union, as well as the creation of a European Public Prosecutor and a review of regulations concerning the recognition and enforcement of decisions in matrimonial matters.
