The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), in partnership with the CDREF (Centre for Documentation and Research on Forced recruitment) and the Ville de Luxembourg, has announced the launch of new French and English language versions of the brochure "Circuit World War II - Occupation, Liberation, places of memory", the first city circuit dedicated to the history of the capital of Luxembourg during World War II. This brochure is now available in German, French and English and illustrates the first city circuit dedicated to the history of the capital of Luxembourg during World War II. It is based on short texts and numerous illustrations and is available from the LCTO in place Guillaume II and online at www.lcto.lu.

The purpose of this discovery tour is to illustrate the historical and social capital during the Nazi occupation between 1940 and 1945. Its content is intended to both foreign and local visitors.

The walk leads the visitor in a journey of 12 stations from the Town Hall (former head of German mayor and later the birthplace of the "Unio'n vun of Letzebuerger Freihétsorganisatio'nen" to the Place d'Armes (first public appearance of Gustav Simon, "Gauleiter" and chief German civil administration ("ZivilverwaltungCdZ)"), the Grand Ducal Palace, Place Clairefontaine, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Monument of Remembrance, the Place des Martyrs to the Villa Pauly, now the seat of the Centre for Documentation and Research on the Resistance and the Steering Committee for the Remembrance of the Resistance.

The project was scientifically supported by the CDREF (Centre for Documentation and Research on Forced recruitment). Research and original texts are the result of a school project by the LTB (Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie) of 2004.

For the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, the edition of this brochure in three languages diversifies its range of thematic guided tours. The "Circuit World War II - Occupation, Liberation, places of memory" is part of a series of 18 existing circuits. The tour can also be accompanied by an official guide LCTO, on request.
