Grand Duchess Maria-Therese visited the week-end's International Bazaar on Saturday afternoon, accoumpanied by two of her daughters-in-law, Princess Claire and Princess Tessy.
Accompanied by Xavier Bettel, expected to be named Prime Minister on Wednesday, as well as Marie-Hélène Ehrke-Harf, President of the Bazaar committee, they were welcomed by presentations of floral bouquets.
With 59 countries represented at this year's 53rd annual bazaar, it was difficult to decide on which specific stand to visit. First stop was China (one of the two new stands this year, alon with the Czech Republic), then Lichtenstein, then down to the Phillipines, before stopping at Germany and then Spain were the two princesses gamely accepted the invitation to dance to the sounds of the musicians.
With so much to see and do, including catching up with friends and acquiantances, the two-day event attracted a huge amount of people, with all proceeds in aid of charity.
Each year the bazaar raises around €500k for charity, with many of the stands raising money through tombolas as well as other activities throughout the year. The main charity this year is L'Hymne aux Enfants from Switzerland which is active in Burkino Faso, supporting families and children with medical-related facilities and services and after-care for children in Ouagadougou aged 3-24 suffering from noma diease, cancer and cleft palates.
