Learning to reduce the amount of food waste can be deliciously simple - a demonstration is being organised by Luxembourg's Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure in the form of a workshop with SMART COOKING with Carlo Sauber on the weekly market place Guillaume II, this Saturday 16 November 2013 from 09:00 to 13:00.

Why throw away apple peels, scampi tails and broccoli trunks if they can be used to concoct delicious recipes while reducing the amount of food waste produced each year? This is the message that the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure wants to convey on the occasion of the European Week for Waste Reduction from 16 to 24 November 2013. The week is being held throughout Europe by public institutions, NGOs and individuals whoc are proposing initiatives to raise awareness at businesses and individuals of the need to reduce waste of all kinds (see www.ewwr.eu).

On Saturday 16 November, Carlo Sauber will lead a tour through the alleys of the weekly market in the Place Guillaume II in search of ingredients. This talented cook who became known on RTL and teaches his technical art at Bonnevoie Lycée will then apply his talent to the food that is not generally used in the kitchen. His goal: to demonstrate that it is possible to offer amazing recipes with "leftovers" rather than throwing them in the bin. the public is invited to attend this workshop to learn how to cook without waste. Tastings will be offered to onlookers between 10:00 and 13:00.

For those who can not make it on site, the Facebook page SMART COOKING LUXEMBOURG will relay this original action. On this page, everyone can learn about the full morning programme, find a list of tips to reduce food waste, share their own tips and relive the best moments of the event at the end of it.
