Luxembourg's Minister of Culture, Octavia Modet, presented the programme of the Journées du Patrimoine which will be taking place from 27 September to 27 October; with a special emphasis on young people, the Journées de Patrimoine offers a rich and varied programme.
The programme has been developed by the Department of National Sites and Monuments, and the Foundation of Architecture and Engineering, with the help of many municipalities and private and public partners.
The Journées de Patrimoine initiative has been designed to enable the public to discover the rich history and heritage as each building or monument has its own historical and educational value. For Minister Modert, the programme will help raise awareness for the public of the diversity within their heritage.
Comprising of 32 separate events, the Journées de Patrimoine 2013 will encourage young and old alike to discover, reflect, critique and question architectural heritage throughout the Grand Duchy.
Throughout the year, there will also be the opportunity to take photographs, film videos or create drawings of architectural heritage which may be displayed to the public at an exhibition for the Journées de Patrimoine 2014.
