Although the skies were grey and the clouds threatened to rain while setting up the various Event Stations on Saturday morning, the 6th annual Discover Luxembourg event on Saurday afternoon, for the most part, passed off dry.

A total of 58 teams participated this year, with a number of last-minute registrations most likely due to participants keeping a close eye on the weather forecast. From 12:30 they set off in 3-minute intervals along the 6km family course or the 10km (slightly longer this year) Adult/Corporate course.

Both courses had the first part in and around the old city, with the Family teams taking a clockwise route and the Adult/Corporate teams going anti-clockwise. The former then went along the Corniche and down into the Grund before tracking along the alzette river to Clausen. Meanwhile, the Adult/Corporate teams crossed the Pétrusse by the Viaduc and went up to (north) Bonnevoie and down to Pulvermuhle, before walking along the Alzette by the Grund, up to the Plateau du Rahm and back down to Clausen.

Along the way, the teams, decked out in their Carnation Blue t-shirts, participated in various challenges to gain points. With the main themes of history, cluture, technology and gastronomy, the challenges involved reconstructing shredded documents, constructing bridges of boxes, identifying treasure as well as shoe leathers, fitness and more. For those more cerebrally-minded, there were quizzes on Indian geography, animals and films, with blind tastings of wine and yoghurts, separately of course.

Each year the event supports a Luxembourg-based charity. This year it was the turn of the fondatious Kriibskrank Kanner, who had their stand at the Place d'Armes. As in previous years, volunteer students from the International School Luxembourg (ISL) assisted the organisers, The Luxembourg Chronicle, that the event went off smoothly.

When the totting-up had been completed, no less than 21 teams were presented with prizes from the Event Partners (BGL BNP Paribas and Integreat Relocation), as well as Station Sponsors (Utopolis, Luxlait, mélange, Villar de Rohde, Streff) as well as other prize sponsors.
