The English-speaking Section of natur&ëmwelt is organising an enevt entitled "A Day in Nature - Roosting Swallows" which will take place on Wednesday 21 August 2013 from 19:15 at one of the roost sites, in Munsbach. It's the time of year again when Swallows from all over our region come to roost together every evening in the reedbeds at Schlammwiss (Munsbach). They assemble each evening in their thousands before one day in September setting off together on their journey to southern Africa. The communal roost is always a spectacular and moving sight. And it's nice for us humans to observe the spectacle together.
Meet at Munsbach football ground at 19.15 if the weather is fine. If it's wet, the group will try again the following evening. If in doubt, call David Crowther (email: wolfcrow@pt.lu, tel: 311301, 661-301303)
Ground conditions are normally good, so stout shoes will suffice. There are car parking spaces at the football ground. If you prefer to use public transport, the train from Luxembourg to Wasserbillig leaves Luxembourg at 18.48 and arrives at Munsbach at 19.08. The 144 bus to Neihäischen leaves Forum Royal at 18.44 and arrives, also at Munsbach railway station, at 19.05. We'll meet you there.
The event is free. WThe organisation encourages participants though to make a donation; any donations made in cash at the site will be donated to the "Zones humides" project. If you would like to donate online to this project, please select "Zones humides" listed under "Choix du projet" on the web site: http://naturanemwelt.lu/natur-an-emwelt_Nouvelles.78-2-0.html or via bank transfer to CCPL LU89 1111 0789 9941 0000 and mentioning "Zones humides".
The organisation will also plan walks in the late autumn to go bird watching.
