On Wednesday 29 March 2017, Labour Minister Nicolas Schmit, ADEM Director Isabelle Schlesser, together with Vice-Rector of the University of Luxembourg Romain Martin, hailed the collaboration between the ADEM and the University of Luxembourg launched in 2014, and sealed it with the signature of two further conventions.

"Luxembourg has a lot of expertise in the field of understanding the risk factors of long-term unemployment," said Isabelle Schlesser. "This is why we approached the University of Luxembourg for the launch of our guidance tool for job seekers, “Profiling” in 2014.

The collaboration began when ADEM wanted to obtain scientific validation for the tool aimed at defining the proximity of the unemployed to the labor market. In a second step, the University of Luxembourg sought ADEM’s support for a study on the perception of unemployment by the population.

Dr Claude Houssemand, professor of differential and cognitive psychology at the University of Luxembourg and director of the LifeLong Learning and Guidance Institute (LLLG) ,and Dr Anne Pignault, a lecturer in work and career psychology, University Paris Nanterre and researcher at the University of Luxembourg presented the two studies conducted with the ADEM.

The Vice-Rector of the University of Luxembourg, Mr Romain Martin, welcomed this collaboration and the promising results of the research carried out so far.

"The University of Luxembourg is aiming in the future to further enhance the research themes presented today: learning and life-long guidance, professional insertion and reintegration as well as those related to mobility and professional disruptions,” he said.

Finally, Minister Schmit, welcomed this collaboration between the ADEM and the University of Luxembourg, which showed the importance of exchanges between the world and the reality of everyday life at ADEM.

"This is not the only collaboration that ADEM has undertaken with the University of Luxembourg since, recently, ADEM and the INSIDE research unit have joined forces to develop a project concerning training Internal staff of ADEM,”he said.
