The annual Julebasar, or Danish Christmas Fair, was held on Saturday at the Salle Victor Hugo in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.
With the choir of the Danish Church singing a number of Christmas songs to open proceedings, it was the Danish Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Louise Bang Jespersen, who welcomed the crowds that had built up at the entrance to the venue. Prime Minister Xavier Bettel then made the formal opening speech and stressed that Luxembourg would not be where it is today without the almost 50% representation of foreigners resident and working in the Grand Duchy. He used the term "melting-pot" of nationalities and cultures and emphasised the importance of integration and working together.
The Danish Christmas Fair again focused on Christmas decorations, a tombola, second-hand books, and food and drink featuring Danish specialities.
