The Institut Pierre Werner has organised a discussion entitled “How to re-democratise democracy?” for Thursday 10 November at 19:00 at the Abbaye de Neumünster.
The question of re-democratising democracy in the will be posed by the historians and philosophers Michel Winock and Nicolas Roussellier.
The question deals with the context of elections in France. As such, there will be a discussion of different models of governance and for instance, as to whether or not one can radically reform democracy in France whilst still remaining within the institutional framework.
Michel Winock is a professor of contemporary history at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris specialises in the history of the French republic. Likewise, Nicolas Roussellier is a history professor and senior lecturer at Sciences Po. His research is on political history and, more specifically, the history of constitutional changes in democracy during the 20th Century.
The round-table discussion at the event will be led by Philippe Poirier, a teacher-researcher at the University of Luxembourg.
The discussion will be in French. The entrance fee is €10 or reduced price €5.
