The Automobile Club Luxembourg (ACL) has performed tests on 14 different child car seats.
The tests form part of the second testing phase this year carried out my automobile clubs across Europe and the German consumer organisation Stiftung Warentest.
As such, ACL actively takes part in tests carried out on new child car seat models. As well as analysing their safety in the case of a collision, the judging criteria includes their handling, ergonomics and the amount of toxic substances with which a child could come into contact.
ACL’s most recent tests have resulted in seven of the fourteen seats tested receiving the label “good” and two others labelled as “satisfactory”. These seats mostly passed the legal requirements. However, the Hema Doorgroei and Cosatto Gug Isofix, despite positive results regarding toxicity, were classed as “unsatisfactory” due to poor results during the tests regarding safety. The other three seats did not pass the tests, including Nuna Rebi, Recaro Optia, and Diono Radian, for various reasons.
