A Luxembourg FinTech start-up and expert in financial risk management tools, TheMarketsTrust, has been announced as a selected finalist within the prestigious initiatives of European banks BBVA and UBS.

The 'Open Talent 2015' is a key initiatives by BBVA which aims to identify innovative ideas capable of transforming and disrupting the FinTech sector in the near future. More than 650 companies from 60 countries applied for this competition, with the 'Hybrid Securities Rating & Valuation' project from TheMarketsTrust selected as one of the finalists for its  Publish/Subscriber business model to reinforce the trust and protection of the investors in the field of complex hybrid securities.

Selected among the 20 finalists, TheMarkestTrust was invited to discuss business opportunities with senior bank executive as a well as to present its idea at the 2015 NextBank conference at the Valkiria Hub Space incubator in Barcelona, Spain.

More than 600 entries from 52 countries applied for the 'Future of Finance Challenge' of major European bank UBS. The Challenge is geared towards entrepreneures, start-ups or growing companies which hold the potential to change the way finance works and how banks meet their client's need.

TheMarketsTrust was selected among the 15 European finalists for its automated, real-time risk analysis platform 'LeopardWorkstation', which holds the potential to fundamentally disrupt the financial eco-system by bringing the efficiency and transparency of the bank's risk management to a new level.

LeopardWorkstation draws on a combination of the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Algorithms, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Behavioural Finance and Markets Sentiments Analysis. The project will be presented by TheMarketsTrust at UBS London Headquarters on 5 November 2015, before taking part in the final stage of the competition at the Level 39 business incubator in Canary Wharf, London, on the following day.

TheMarketsTrust has partnered with Pr. Wim Schoutens of Leuven University (KUL), a European export in the modelling of complex, high-yield securities. securities. LeopardWorkstation, a real-time risk analysis platform developed by TheMarketsTrust, is used as the technological basis for the completion of the “Hybrid Securities Rating & Valuation” project. Upon finishing the project, TheMarketsTrust will become the European alternative to existing US-based rating agencies, on which investors are currently dependent.

TheMarketsTrust is supported by LuxInnovation, the Luxembourg agency for innovation and research, and BGL-BNP Paribas through the LuxFutureLab incubator. In May 2015, TheMarketsTrust was chosen and accepted into the first phase of the SME Horizon 2002 EU programme.
