On Saturday 24 October 2015, fifty participants and twenty volunteers gathered at the Geesseknaeppchen campus forum to take part in a free one-day workshop for girls aimed at promoting computer programming and new technologies.
Taking place alongside EU Code Week, the 2015 edition of the RailsGirls event represented the second to be held annually. Almost 100 registration requests were received by girls and women looking to learn more about computer programming with the language Ruby on Rails.
"The goal is to demystify code and to show how web applications which are used in everyday life are built," explained Marina Andrieu, co-head of Girls in Tech and EU Code Week Ambassador for Luxembourg. "Participants can test their abilities to create with new technologies".
Organiser of the event, non-profit Girls in Tech, contributed volunteers for the event, which was supported by the Support Service Media Communication, Ministry of State, Digital & Luxembourg and the National Youth Service (SNJ).
