A performance of Giacomo Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" will be taking place at the CAPE Ettelbruck on Saturday 23 November 2019 at 20:00.
Madama Butterfly tells the tragic story of a young geisha neglected by her American husband in the early twentieth century. It is a story of betrayal, drama of love and expectation and an overwhelmingly accurate and sensitive portrait of a woman.
Co-produced by Opéra Nomade and the Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne, this interpretation of one of the world's most famous and most performed operas will be sung in Italian with French surtitles. Japanese soprano Noriko Urata plays the lead role; the production is directed by Pierre Thirion-Vallet with a beautiful score by Amaury du Closel.
The director will provide an introduction 30 minutes before the beginning of the show (ie 19:30). The performance itself lasts approximately 2.5 hours (interval included).
Tickets cost €41, €20.50 for under-26s or €1.50 with a Kulturpass and can be purchased online at www.cape.lu, via email: billetterie@cape.lu or tel.: 268-12681.
