Let the magic of live performance transport you to the New York Opera!

Dead Man Walking (live on Sat 21 Oct @ 18:55: recorded on Mon 30 Oct @ 13:45): Based on Sister Helen Prejean's book in which she recounts her fight against the death penalty, Jake Heggie's penetrating opera, hailed in particular for its remarkable libretto, opens the Met's season live from New York. An evening not to be missed, led by soprano Joyce DiDonato in the role of the nun. Opera in two acts. Original Version (English Subtitles; French subtitles)

The music captivates with its diversity of rhythmic motifs and poignant lyricism. Opera in three acts. Original Version (English Subtitles; French subtitles)

Florencia en el Amazonas (live on Sat 9 Dec @ 18:55; recorded on Mon 18 Dec @ 13:45): Mexican opera-maker Daniel Catán's sensual score is inspired by the magical realism of writer Gabriel García Márquez. Nabucco (live on Sat 6 Jan @ 18:55; recorded on Mon 15 Jan @ 13:45): Verdi's first great success, Nabucco captivates and enthrals with its plot combining family, politics and romance, not to mention its majestic choruses, including the famous "Va pensiero". The sumptuous sets of the Met's iconic production provide a majestic backdrop for this masterpiece. Opera in four acts. Italian version (English Subtitles)

Carmen (live on Sat 27 Jan @ 18:55; recorded on Mon 5 Feb @ 13:45): Resolutely modern, the figure of Carmen continues to fascinate! Opera in four acts. French version (English Subtitles; French subtitles)

La Forza del Destino (live on Sat 9 Mar @ 18:00; recorded on Mon 18 Mar @ 13:45): Carried by Verdi's rich and contrasting score, the thwarted romance of Leonora and Alvaro delivers a poignant performance. Romeo & Juliet (live on Sat 23 Mar @ 17:55; recorded on Mon 1 Apr @ 13:45): Bartlett Sher's realistic and romantic staging of the lovers of Verona features two top stars: French tenor Benjamin Bernheim and American soprano Nadine Sierra, in what promises to be a spectacular retransmission! Opera in five acts. French version (English Subtitles; French subtitles)

La Rondine (live on Sat 20 Apr @ 18:55; recorded on Mon 29 Apr @ 13:45): Sometimes compared to La Traviata for its bittersweet love story between a courtesan and an idealistic young man from a good family, La Rondine nonetheless has its own singularity, sublimated by Nicolas Joël's magnificent Art Deco-inspired production. Opera in three acts. Italian version (English Subtitles; French subtitles)

Madame Butterfly (live on Sat 11 May @ 18:55; recorded on Mon 20 May @ 13:45): Two rising stars come together to embody Puccini's drama, admirably directed by Anthony Minghella: the Lithuanian Asmik Grigorian makes her Met debut as the innocent Butterfly, and Jonathan Tetelman as the cynical Pinkerton.
