The opderschmelz cultural centre in Dudelange is hosting concerts by two international music groups this January and February.

The London band WISHBONE ASH are performing at opderschmelz on Friday 9 February 2024 at 20:00 (doors open at 19:00).

After their last successful tour in January 2023, WISHBONE ASH will be touring in January 2024, putting on numerous concerts in Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

The band was formed in London in 1969, during the emergence of the progressive rock scene. Capitalising on the fertile musical environment, WISHBONE ASH produced a distinctive brand of melodic rock characterised by the interplay between two lead guitars, which has influenced bands such as Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Iron Maiden and Opeth. Their album "Argus" peaked at No 3 in the UK Albums Chart.

Equally inspired by traditional British folk, American jazz and R&B, the band gained critical and public acclaim. Over the years, the band has experimented with various musical genres, from folk, blues and jazz to pedal-to-the-metal rock and electronica.

Pre-sale tickets cost €25 (plus a booking fee); box office tickets cost €30. Free entry with a Kulturpass. Further information is available at  https://opderschmelz.lu/en/agenda/1908_1826hbone Ash.

Lata Gouveia will be celebrating 30 years on stage with a special, one-time-only production and performance at opderschmelz. The Luxembourg-based musician is performing on Saturday 29 January 2024 at 20:00 (doors open at 19:00).

Starting in 1993 in London's West End and South East, Gouveia's career and stage performances have been uninterrupted for three decades, as he performed with several projects in his first nine years in London, moving to Lisbon in 2002, back to London in 2005, to Oklahoma in 2007, Texas in 2009 and, finally to Luxembourg in 2011, where he has been based ever since.

Apart from his participation in bands like Bossy Bitch, The Trick, The Gazmen and The Grund Club ASBL (where he is the artistic director), in Luxembourg, one is used to seeing Gouveia perform his original songs with his rock band in many outdoor summer events, and he is known to perform as an acoustic opening act for many international acts over the years, from Sting to Alan Parsons, Charlie Winston, Bombino, Keiffer Sunderland, Juanes, Ayo and many more.

This show will be different from what Lata Gouveia has done before. Backed up and surrounded by a gathering of Luxembourg's musicians, he will perform to a sitting audience, presenting completely new arrangements of original songs we are familiar with, and talking the audience through his journey. This chronological time trip will include the participation of musicians such as Ernie Hammes, Kader Fahem, Jeff Herr, Ebrima Mass, Sebastian Flach, Paul Porcelli and others.

Pre-sale tickets cost €20 (plus a booking fee); box office tickets cost €25. Free entry with a Kulturpass. Further information is available at https://opderschmelz.lu/en/agenda/1908_1826.
