Monday 3 July 2023 marked the launch of the preselection process for the artist or group who will represent Luxembourg in the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest next year.
As announced by RTL, candidates can now register through the official national Eurovision website (https://www.eurovision.lu/) in one or more of the three available categories.
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Each artist or group can submit a maximum of three songs. The artist or group and the songwriter do not have to be identical for each song submitted. The submission deadline is 1 October 2023.
Singers or groups who do not have a song but wish to relate to a team of songwriters must upload a video containing a brief introduction and the performance of a song of their choice via the registration site by 16 July 2023.
Rules: songs must not last longer than three minutes; no plagiarised song lyrics and no discriminatory and/or political statements in the lyrics; the songs must not have been published before 1 September of the year preceding the contest; free choice of language(s).
Following receipt of the applications, a panel of experts will select the singers. The finalists will then participate in the national preselection, which will take place at the Rockhal in Esch-Belval on 27 January 2024.
The winner of this national preselection will represent Luxembourg as it makes its Eurovision comeback in Sweden in May 2024; this long-awaited comeback was announced in May 2023.
Luxembourgish broadcaster CLT-UFA (RTL Luxembourg), which is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), is responsible for the broadcasting, the selection of the candidate(s) representing Luxembourg and the participation of the Luxembourg delegation at Eurovision next year.
