German-Luxembourgish artist Adrienne Haan will be performing her show "Tehorah" at the Théâtre d'Esch in Esch-sur-Alzette on Monday 27 January 2020 from 20:00.
As part of Luxembourg's presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), Adrienne Haan will be performing "Tehorah" in Esch-sur-Alzette on the same date as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The show will feature Benjamin Schaefer on the grand piano, Maurice Maurer and Christoph König on violin, Albrecht Maurer on viola and Tobias Sykora on cello.
Tehorah, which means "pure" in Hebrew, is a heartbreaking, promising musical story about war, loss, hope, love and forgiveness. The soirée contains German, Yiddish and Hebrew songs that were composed and written exclusively by Jewish composers and lyricists. At the same time, Tehorah is a historical-poetic portrait. First performed in Carnegie Hall in New York in 2015, the concert now commemorates the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau 75 years ago and sends out a sign of hope for peace.
The event has been organised in cooperation with MemoShoah Luxembourg asbl, the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah in Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Delegation of the IHRA, the Committee for the Remembrance of the Second World War, the National Resistance Museum of Luxembourg, Luxembourg's Auschwitz Committee, the Witnesses of the Second Generation of Luxembourg, the Jewish Community in Esch-sur-Alzette, the Théâtre d'Esch and the Municipality of Esch-sur-Alzette. The concert is placed under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Grand Duke Henri Luxembourg.
Tickets are now on sale at https://theatre.esch.lu/event/tehorah/. Prices start from €16 for adults, €8 for young people and €4 for children under 12.
