The Grand Ducal Police have reported that they arrested a motorist who caused a rear-end collision in Bascharage and was driving whilst banned, also while under the influence of alcohol.
At around 08:15 on Sunday 29 September 2024, a rear-end collision occurred on Avenue de Luxembourg in Bascharage.
As reported by the police, a group of pedestrians wanted to cross the street at a pedestrian crossing. While the first and second vehicles were able to brake in time, a third vehicle collided with the second and the latter then hit the first vehicle. Several people in these vehicles were injured. It turned out that the driver of the first vehicle had been under the influence of alcohol. Both the ethyl test and the drug test for cocaine were positive. The police also found that the driver had a Belgian driving licence and was banned from driving in Luxembourg.
The public prosecutor's office ordered the confiscation of the vehicle, the re-imposition of a driving ban and the arrest of the driver, who was later brought before the investigating judge.
