The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on Tuesday 12 July 2022, at around 1:10, during a regular security patrol, the police officers encountered a suspicious vehicle with four occupants in the roundabout in Niederkorn, and when approached for a check, the driver fled at full throttle in the direction of Sanem, although he initially made attempts to stop.

During the escape, the driver performed several dangerous maneuvers and continued to increase speed on a straight stretch, as a result of which the driver lost control of the car in a right-left turn. One of the front tire blew out and the car slid across the roadway, down an embankment into the public parking lot there. The car then slammed into three parked cars, overturned and came to rest in the front yard of a house lying across.

Immediately before the arrival of the rescue workers, first aid measures were carried out on the person who had been thrown out and all other people were given first aid after being rescued from the crashed car and then transported to the hospital for further treatment. The people suffered minor to serious injuries. Two emergency doctors, several rescue workers and fire brigades were on site.

After ascertaining the identities of all the people who made false statements on the spot, the investigations revealed that two men had been ordered to appear by the investigative office in Luxembourg. There was also a driving ban against the alleged car driver. By order of the public prosecutor's office, the demonstration orders are carried out and the vehicle is confiscated. Further investigations are ongoing.
