The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a serious traffic accident involving a pedestrian occurred in Rumelange, in south-western Luxembourg, on Monday morning.

At around 10:00 on Monday, a pedestrian was hit by a car on Rue de l'Usine and suffered life-threatening injuries. The woman had started to cross a pedestrian crossing with her dog when she was hit by a car headed in the direction of Tétange.

Emergency services had to resuscitate the victim on site before taking her to hospital. The motorist responsible for the accident was in shock and received medical attention in hospital. The victim's dog was taken to a veterinarian for a check-up.

The road was closed to traffic during the rescue operation but was reopened by noon.
