A number of roadworks and activities have been announced affecting the A6 motorway, the Gosselerbierg tunnel and the Rocade de Bonnevoie in Luxembourg.

Firstly, from 21:00 on Friday 10 May until approximately 18:00 on Monday 13 May 2019, the Roads Administration will carry out a works related to the renewal of the wearing course on the A6 motorway between the Cessange cross and the Gasperich cross. During this period, the slip roads of the Cessange cross from the A4 towards the A6 will be closed to traffic. Similarly, access will be blocked to the slip roads of the Cessange cross from the Belgian-Luxembourg border on the A6 towards the Merl roundabout of the A4 and the A6 motorway coming from the border between the Cessange and Gasperich crosses.

In addition, the A3 at the Gasperich cross towards the French-Luxembourg border will be limited to one lane and there will be no left turn at the Leudelange-Nord interchange from the Cessange cross A4 and towards the N4 for the duration of these works.

Traffic from the Belgian-Luxembourg border on the A6 towards Hollerich will be diverted from the Cessange cross via the Leudelange-Nord interchange (Exit 1) back on the A4 towards the Merl roundabout. Traffic from the Raemerich roundabout on the A4 towards the A6 Belgian-Luxembourg border will also be diverted from the Cessange cross via the Merl roundabout back to the Cessange cross in the direction of the A6. Finally, traffic from the Belgian-Luxembourg border on the A6 and the A4 motorway and towards the Gasperich cross via the A6 will be diverted from the Cessange cross via the A4-A13-A3 motorways at the Gasperich cross.

Further works will be carried out at the Rocade de Bonnevoie, starting on Monday 13 March 2019. These works entail the construction of bus stops on both sides of the Rocade to ensure future bus-train exchanges. The end of these works is scheduled for autumn 2019. Traffic on the Bonnevoie Bypass (B3) will be guaranteed for the duration of the works, with the exception of the days of the implementation of the wearing course, where closures are planned. One or more lanes could be removed depending on the phase of the works.

Moreover, the Gosselerbierg tunnel will be closed on Sunday 12 May 2019 from 07:00 to 13:00 due to the organisation of a full-scale exercise involving the Roads Administration, Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), Labour and Mining Inspectorate (ITM) and the Luxembourg Police. The exercise is planned for tunnel staff and emergency response services as stipulated by art. 37 of the Grand-Ducal Regulation of 20 December 2007 concerning the safety measures applicable in certain road tunnels. These tests are essential and mandatory in order to guarantee the safety of tunnel users in the event of an incident.

During this time, the Gosselerbierg tunnel will be closed in both directions. Traffic from Luxembourg will be diverted from the Lorentzweiler interchange via the N7 towards Mersch to the Mierscherbierg interchange, whilst traffic from Fridhaff will be diverted from the Mierscherbierg interchange via the N7 to the Lorentzweiler interchange.
