Luxembourg's Public Transport Administration has announced changes to the public transport offer in the context of National Day celebrations.
In addition to route and schedule changes, special late-night services will be put in place on Thursday 22 June 2023, the eve of Luxembourg's National Day.
RGTR
From 19:00 on Thursday, regional bus lines 601, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608 and 609 will exceptionally start and end their journey at P+R Bouillon. These buses will not stop at Lux-Monterey, Belair-Rheinsheim, Belair-Crécy and Hollerich-Heentze Parc. Lines 701, 702, 703 and 711 will start and end their journey exceptionally at the Stäreplaz interchange. These buses will not stop at Lux-Monterey.
For line 60U, buses 8963 (Thursday evening) and 3203 (only Friday 23 June 2023) coming from the Côte d'Eich will be diverted to the right via Rue des Glacis - Schuman roundabout - to the right of Boulevard de la Foire - Boulevard Grande-Duchesse Charlotte - Route d'Esch - A4, following normal route. These buses will not stop at Limpertsberg-Crispinus, Lux/Centre-Badanstalt, Lux/Gare Rocade, Hollerich-Fonderie or Jean-Baptiste Merkels; they will exceptionally stop at Limpertsberg-Theater.
Special buses will commence on the night of 22 to 23 June on the following RGTR lines: 111, 221, 223, 311, 325, 411, 413, 421, 422, 424, 461, 511, 513, 612, 711, 812, 821, 823, 904 and 921.
On Friday (National Day), RGTR lines will run according to the public holiday schedule on regular routes. Further information is available on the Mobilitéit website.
AVL
From around 18:00 on Thursday, all AVL city bus lines will be diverted between the central station and the city centre in both directions via Rue de Hollerich and Route d’Esch. At the beginning of the evening, before the events, additional services will be available on certain lines. With the exception of lines 6, 16 and 18, bus traffic will be interrupted between approximately 22:30 and 23:30. Line 23 will be split into two different lines which will run on the one hand between Eich and the city centre (Badanstalt) and on the other hand between Bonnevoie and the central station.
After the fireworks, special services will be scheduled between approximately 23:30 and 03:30 on most AVL lines from the city centre. Timetables are available on the VdL website or that of Mobilitéit (see above).
P+R lines
Buses will leave every five to ten minutes between approximately 18:00 and 22:30 from the following park and ride sites: P+R Bouillon (line 37) to the city centre; P+R Bouillon (lines 10 and 20) to the central station; P+R Howald, Lux-Sud to the central station and the city centre (line 39); P+R Kockelscheuer Patinoire and P+R Stade de Luxembourg to the city centre (line 18).
Departures from the city centre to the car parks will be after the fireworks from the following stops: line 37 from Monterey platform 5 (temporary stop) towards P+R Bouillon; line 20 from central station platform 105 towards P+R Bouillon; line 39 from Hamilius platform 2 and central station platform 1 towards P+R Howald, Lux-Sud; line 18 from Hamilius platform 2 towards P+R Stade de Luxembourg and P+R Kockelscheuer (direct line, without stopping at the central station). The last departure for each of these lines will be at 03:30.
On Friday, AVL lines will run according to the public holiday timetable on regular routes, except between approximately 15.00 and 17:30, when all lines circulating between the station district and the city centre will be diverted in both directions via Rue de Hollerich and Route d'Esch.
The City Night Bus lines will run according to their usual schedules and routes on the night of Friday 23 to Saturday 24 June 2023.
Luxtram
On Thursday, the tram will run on an extended schedule between the Luxexpo and Lycée Bouneweg stops at least every five minutes. The last departure from Luxexpo towards Lycée Bouneweg is at 03:05; the last departure from Lycée Bouneweg towards Luxexpo is at 03:40.
Due to the fireworks on the Adolphe Bridge and its preparations, tram traffic will be suspended from 19:00 to 00:15 on the Hamilius - Place de Metz section. A substitute bus service (line 39) will connect the Hamilius and central station stops.
On Friday, the tram will run according to the public holiday timetable. As part of the military parade in Avenue de la Liberté, tram traffic will be suspended on the Hamilius - central station section between approximately 10:45 and 13:30 when the tram will only run on the Luxexpo - Hamilius section and back. A substitute bus service (lines 4, 13 and 18) will connect the Hamilius and central station stops.
TICE
Due to National Day festivities in various municipalities in the south of the country, some streets will be closed from 09:00 on Thursday until 01:00 on Friday. The following TICE lines will undergo a schedule and route change: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17. TICE night buses will also run in the evening from 22 to 23 June. Timetables are available on the TICE website or the Mobilitéit website.
On Friday, the TICE lines will run according to the public holiday timetable on the usual routes. TICE night buses will also run in the evening from 23 to 24 June 2023.
CFL
Special trains will be put in place on the night of 22 to 23 June on the following lines: 10, 30, 50, 60, 60A and 70. On Friday, CFL trains will run according to the public holiday timetable.
Night bus
Some Nightlife- and Late Night Buses will run overnight from 22 to 23 June. Further information is available on the Mobilitéit website.
Adapto
The transport service for people with reduced mobility will run exceptionally until midnight on Thursday.
