Luxembourg’s Ministry of Mobility and Public Works and the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development have announced the decision to maintain a symbolic incentive, from April to December 2023, following the recently concluded carpooling subsidy programme.

This promotional campaign for carpooling, which launched on 1 September 2022, ended as planned on Friday 31 March 2023. During this period, journeys made via the Copilote/Klaxit application were subsidised up to €3 per passenger per journey.

Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch and the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development, Joëlle Welfring will present the results of this promotional measure in detail in early May 2023.

Since international experience showed that a zeroing of such subsidisations overnight leads to a collapse of the number of users, according to the two ministers, a symbolic incentive will remain in place for the period from 1 April to 31 December 2023. The adapted repayment terms will be announced shortly.
