In collaboration with Fonds Kirchberg, Flex Carsharing recently expanded its network with three new sites to reach a total of 60 stations and 110 cars spread across Luxembourg.

Thursday 17 March 2022 marked the inauguration of a new Flex Carsharing station in the Grünewald district in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, in the presence of Luxembourg's Minister of Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, the Director of Passenger Traffic at CFL, Marc Hoffmann, and the CEO of CFL Mobility and operator of Flex, Jürgen Berg.

The carsharing service, which started in 2018 with 20 stations, now operates a total of 60 sites (including the three new ones on the Kirchberg plateau) across the Grand Duchy.

As Jürgen Berg explained at the inauguration, this growth is no coincidence: "In 2021 alone, Flex Carsharing again recorded an increase of more than 50% in customers and a 60% increase in reservations. In 2021, our customers have travelled more than a million kilometres with our Flex vehicles".

For new projects, Fonds Kirchberg will aim to integrate carsharing from the outset as an alternative to private cars in all its urban developments. By combining the different means of transport, it is possible to reduce the number of parking spaces per dwelling, while allowing residents to use a car flexibly. It is in this spirit that the fund is collaborating with CFL Mobility and Flex, which already operate two carsharing stations on the Kirchberg plateau, in particular in the "Place de l'Europe" and "Gernsback" car parks, to which is now added three new stations installed by Fonds Kirchberg on its properties.

The three new sites are located in the "Université" car park (Rue Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi), in the Kiem district (corner of Boulevard Konrad Adenauer / Boulevard Pierre Frieden) and in the Grünewald district (corner of Rue Edward Steichen / Rue Marcel Fischbach), respectively.
