Road works on Boulevard Royal for 4 - 7 September 2020; Credit: VdL

The City of Luxembourg has announced a series of construction works for the coming days.

Tuesday 1 September 2020

The first works are scheduled to take place on Avenue de la Liberté this evening between 22:00 and midnight. For the duration of these works, Avenue de la Liberté will be closed to traffic between Rue Jean Origer and Rue Glesener. A detour will be set up via Rue Jean Origer and Rue de Bonnevoie.

Wednesday 2 to Thursday 3 September 2020

Works relating to the renewal of the wearing course at the crossroads at Route d'Esch, Rue de Hollerich, and the new Route d'Esch will take place between 21:00 on 2 September and 05:00 on 3 September 2020. During these works, the following road sections will be closed to traffic: access from the new Route d'Esch (lanes coming from the A4 motorway) to Route d'Esch towards Gaasperecherbierg - Cloche d´Or; Route d'Esch near Place Saints Pierre et Paul (for traffic going towards the city centre). A detour will be signalled.

The following changes will impact public transport during this time: in the direction of Howald, Peternelchen, bus line 24 will be diverted from Place Saints Pierre et Paul via Rue de Hollerich and Rue de l'Aciérie. The Assurances Sociales quai 3 stop (154 Route d'Esch) will be removed and replaced by the Assurances Sociales quai 1 stop on Rue de l'Aciérie.

Thursday 3 to Friday 4 September 2020

Final repair work on Rue Caroline Baldauff-Rothermel, Rue Herbert Schaefer and Rue Benjamin Franklin is scheduled to take place from 07:00 on 3 September until 20:00 on 4 September 2020. This work will involve the closure to traffic of the following road sections: Rue Caroline Baldauff-Rothermel, Rue Herbert Schaefer and Rue Marie de Zorn, from 07:00 on Thursday until 20:00 on Friday; Rue Christophe Colomb on the section between Rue Benjamin Franklin and Rue Aristide Briand, from 07:00 on Thursday until noon on Friday; Rue Benjamin Franklin on the section between Rue Georges Clemenceau and Rue Franz Liszt, from 06:00 to 12:00 on Friday 4 September 2020.

The following changes will impact public transport: the Clemenceau and Richard Wagner stops on bus lines 2 and 23 will be removed from 07:00 on Thursday until around 18:00 on Friday. Public transport users are advised to go to the Bei der Auer (Rue de Gasperich) or Millewee (Muhlenweg) bus stops.

Friday 4 to Monday 7 September 2020

Pavement work is scheduled for Boulevard Royal from 20:00 on 4 September until 05:00 on 7 September 2020. This work will involve the closure of the main roads on Boulevard Royal between Avenue Emile Reuter and Place de Bruxelles. The transit detour will be via the Waldhof motorway interchange (N11 / A7) in the direction of Luxembourg then onto the A1 towards Luxembourg-Gare. A second detour will pass through Place Dargent, Rue de Muhlenbach, Rue de Rollingergrund, Place de l'Etoile and Boulevard G-D Charlotte. The local detour will pass through Avenue Emile Reuter, Place de l'Etoile and Boulevard G-D Charlotte. The city centre will remain accessible and access to public underground car parks guaranteed.

The following changes will apply to public transport: the Hamilius quai 1 stop will be moved temporarily from Boulevard Royal to the Amélie stop, located on Boulevard Prince Henri, at the corner of Avenue Amélie. This modification concerns the following lines in the direction of Limpertsberg, Kirchberg, Eich and/or Clausen: 1, 2/4, 3/30, 9, 10/11, 14, 16 and 18, as well as the RGTR lines 120, 144, 172, 192, 194, 195, 740, 750, 800 and 810; the combined Hamilius quai 2 / Royal quai 2 stop located on Boulevard Royal, upstream from Avenue Emile Reuter, will be removed and replaced.

The appropriate signs will be put in place for the duration of these works.
