On Monday, Luxtram commenced works in Place de Paris in Luxembourg-Ville as part of the implementation of the tram line towards Luxembourg Central Station.

In order to minimise the impact of the construction works and maintain normal traffic flows on Avenue de la Liberté and the surrounding streets, these works will be carried out in three successive phases.

Phase 1: underground network works

During the first phase, underground premises will be created to accommodate new technical equipment and the underground networks will be reinforced and renewed.
These works will take place until November 2020 in the central part of Place de Paris. The terraces of restaurants and cafes can be installed on the edge of the square.

Phase 2: network and road works

During this second phase, the road works (laying of natural stones, leveling, etc.) will be carried out in parallel with the finalisation of the network works. These works, scheduled between November 2020 and March 2021, will cover the entire square.

Phase 3: road works

The road works on the edges of Place de Paris will constitute the last stage of construction works and are expected to take place until June / July 2021. During this phase, the construction site will be organised to allow cafes and restaurants to set up their terraces in the central areas of the square.

Access to residents will be maintained throughout the duration of the works, as well as to deliveries which will be adapted if necessary. Motorised traffic will be coordinated in close cooperation with the Luxembourg City Traffic Service, which will put appropriate signage in place.

The team of construction site mediators will be available to provide daily information in the field. These residents and general users of public space can be contacted via tel.: 262-02820 or via email: travaux@luxtram.lu.
