Luxembourg's railways, the CFL, has announced that three lines in the Grand Duchy will be closed over the summer holidays in August and September 2019.

The works on the railway lines are to enable the CFL to maintain, modernise and extend the rail network, which it does continuously. These railway infrastructure works require the temporary closure of certain sections of lines in order to enable their rapid and safe operation.

During the summer holidays in Luxembourg, the CFL will close the sections between Ettelbruck and Diekirch (Luxembourg - Troisvierges - Gouvy) and between Ettelbruck and Troisvierges on Line 10 from Saturday 24 August to Sunday 15 September 2019 inclusive. The stretch of Line 10 between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck will similarly be closed from Friday 27 (from 22:00) to Sunday 29 September 2019 inclusive.

In addition, two sections of line 30 (Luxembourg - Wasserbillig - Trier) will be closed, with work taking place between Oetrange and Trier from Saturday 24 August to Sunday 8 September 2019 inclusive and on the weekend of 14 to 15 September 2019. The section between Luxembourg and Oetrange will be closed the weekends of 28 to 29 September 2019.

Finally, the section between Luxembourg and Bettembourg on lines 60 (Luxembourg - Esch-sur-Alzette - Pétange - Rodange) and 90 (Luxembourg - Bettembourg - Thionville - Metz - Nancy) will be closed from Monday 19 to Friday 23 August 2019 inclusive.

Various alternative measures will be put in place. In most cases, travellers will have to leave earlier to arrive at their destination at the desired time. People with reduced mobility wishing to board replacement buses should contact the CFL before starting their journey via tel.: 4990-3737 or via e-mail: video-surveillance.zoc@cfl.lu at least one hour in advance for national traffic and 48 hours in advance for international traffic.

During the closure of these sections, alternative buses will run between the various stations.
