The Ville de Luxembourg has announced changes to parking, traffic and transport in relation to the funeral service of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Jean this Saturday 4 May 2019.
Regarding parking, access to the Place de l'Europe car park in Luxembourg-Kirchberg will be free of charge between 06:00 and 23:30 (closing time). In addition, rail work originally planned for the weekend of 4-5 May, requiring the closure of the Luxembourg - Sandweiler-Contern and Luxembourg - Dommeldange railway sections, have been postponed to a later date. Indeed, there will be, where possible, addition train services to meet predicted increased demand on Saturday. Similarly, AVL bus line 17 will be reinforced this Saturday and will circulate between 8:03 and 15:03 every ten minutes from P + R Bouillon towards the city centre ("Monterey" stop); return journeys will run every ten minutes until 15:10, then every 20 minutes until 19:10. From P + R Bouillon, visitors will also be able to use bus lines 1/125 and 15 to get to the city centre and the Gare district; one bus will run every 15-20 minutes.

Due to the closure of various streets in the city centre, the stops F.D. Roosevelt quai 1, Cathédrale, Gruef and Kasinosgaass on bus lines 19 and 32 will be replaced by the Hamilius (19/32) and Forum Royal (32) stops, from 18:00 on 2 May until 4 May 2019. Similarly, the City Shopping Bus will not serve these stops on Saturday, instead stopping at Rue Beaumont. City bus staff will be present at major bus stops to inform and guide users. As a reminder, all bus lines (1-33), the tram line and some RGTR lines are free in the capital on Saturdays.
Appropriate signs will be put in place announcing these changes.
Finally, the Luxembourg Ministry of Mobility and Public Works has announced the prohibition of any aerial activity as well as drone activity in Ville Haute in Luxembourg City up to a height of 750 metres, in the context of the Grand Duke's funeral. This ban will remain in effect from 06:00 until 22:00 on Saturday.
