On Tuesday 22 April 2025, Luxembourg-based financial institution Microlux reported that 2024 saw 304 individuals approach the institution to turn their entrepreneurial projects into reality, marking a 17% rise compared to the previous year.
Microlux detailed that among the 304 individuals who applied, 176 received tailored support and 50 microloans were granted to help launch or develop their businesses. They also noted that since its inception in 2016, Microlux had reached several key milestones:
- 280 entrepreneurs supported in Luxembourg with a microloan;
- 1,028 individuals assisted in starting their businesses;
- 450 jobs created and sustained.
In their report, Microlux described that their new challenge is to bring together these 280 microentrepreneurs into a community that can support each other and share best practices.
2024 also saw a major strategic advancement for the financial institution as they received accreditation from the Society for Social Impact (SIS) and transformed 100% of Microlux's capital into impact shares. This change ensures that all profits will be reinvested in the development of Microlux's activities, thereby affirming the institution’s mission of social inclusion.
Microlux offers microcredits of up to €50,000 for a business project and up to €10,000 for a personal loan that helps micro-entrepreneurs to find a job.
Microlux also announced that to manage the increase in demand and provide greater personalised support to beneficiaries it will welcome a new team member in 2025. Microlux noted that this appointment was made possible thanks to the support of two of its partners: the National Grand-Duchess Charlotte Relief Fund and the Human Safety Net (THSN) Foundation of the Generali Group.
