The Health Directorate within Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security has published its latest weekly retrospective report on the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.
From Monday 25 November to Sunday 1 December 2024 (week 48), the number of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) cases rose from 72 to 84, an increase of 17% over one week.
The latest available sequencing data revealed that the KP.3 variant remained predominant in October 2024.
The number of influenza (flu) cases reported by laboratories rose from 60 to 110, an increase of 83% compared to the previous week. Over the last four weeks, 78% of typed results were influenza A and 22% were influenza B.
Moreover, RSV cases increased by 80%, with 119 confirmed cases, compared with 66 the previous week.
No cases of whooping cough were recorded in week 48 (as was also the case the previous week).
