On the occasion of World Cancer Day, which is observed annually on 4 February, Fondation Cancer is launching an awareness-raising campaign in Luxembourg aimed at giving cancer patients and their loved ones a voice.

Through the "Comment te dire" (how to tell you) campaign, everyone will be invited to share their experience so that together we can find the right words to talk about cancer.

For patients and those around them, talking about cancer can be difficult. "Many cancer patients report having lost all contact with some of their loved ones following the announcement of the disease and the start of treatment. Those around them may feel helpless in the face of what their loved one is going through and do not dare to hear from them for fear of not knowing what to say", explaineds Barbara Strehler, psycho-oncologist at Fondation Cancer.

This silence can create distance as well as making patients feel isolated when faced with cancer.

As such, Fondation Cancer has launched a national call for testimonials to gather the experience of current and former cancer patients and their relatives. These testimonials can be shared via a questionnaire (in French and German) on the website: https://www.cancer.lu/fr. The testimonials will then be disseminated to inspire other patients and their loved ones.
