On Friday 21 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health clarified that in accordance with the opinion of the Higher Council for Infectious Diseases (CSMI) of 18 January 2022, an initial vaccination with a single dose of Janssen COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) followed by an additional dose either of Janssen vaccine or of a mRNA vaccine (Comirnaty or Spikevax), is considered as a complete vaccination with booster in Luxembourg and therefore meets the requirements of CovidCheck.

However, like other European countries, the CSMI is also considering the possibility of an alternative vaccination schedule with an initial injection of Janssen vaccine, followed by an optimisation vaccination with an mRNA vaccine (mix & match) after a minimum of one month space and an additional booster by mRNA vaccine a few months later.

In order to respond in particular to the needs of people traveling to other European countries which now require a vaccination schedule with three injections, even in the case of initial vaccination with Janssen vaccine (for example in Germany), the government has decided to offer this alternative scheme to those who wish to obtain it on a voluntary basis.

People wishing to carry out this vaccination schedule and therefore obtain a booster vaccination from three months after the second injection can present themselves without an appointment at a "pop-up" vaccination spot or register via the Guichet.lu website to receive an invitation to make an appointment at one of the three vaccination centres. The MyGuichet approach will be operational next week.
