On Wednesday 17 November 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 491 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 859 fatalities (no new deaths reported since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.

491 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 4,613 tests carried out the day before, representing 77.36 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 10.66%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 156.00. 

A total of 45 people are in hospital with the virus, including ten patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 3,203 active infections known, whilst a total of 81,299 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.95.

A total of 864,030 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (441,894 first doses, 382,533 second doses, 39,603 additional doses). A total of 422,453 people are now fully vaccinated.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
