
On Thursday 30 December 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 187 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 498 fatalities (three more deaths since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
187 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 8,609 tests carried out the day before, representing 29.87 per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 2.17%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
132 people are in hospital with the virus, including 31 patients in intensive care. On 28 December, there were 4,942 active infections known, whilst a total of 40,978 people have recovered from the virus to date.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 161.00.
The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg stands at 0.75.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
