Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 417 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections over the weekend; there have been 133 fatalities (no change since Monday 12 October 2020) resulting from the virus to date.

175 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Saturday from a total of 8,192 tests carried out the day before, with a further 242 having tested positive on Sunday from 8,618 tests carried out the previous day. Sunday marked a new record high of daily cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) in cases is now 166.57. 

As of Friday 16 October 2020, 51 people were in hospital with the virus, including four patients in intensive care. There were 1,870 active infections known, whilst a total of 8,468 people had recovered from the virus. 

The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg is currently 1.29.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
