Police Withdraw Driving Licence During Alcohol Checks in Echternach

The Grand Ducal Police reported that they carried out an alcohol impairment check in Echternach during the early hours of Saturday 8 August 2026.

The check took place on Rue Alferweiher between 01:30 and 04:00 at the request of the State Prosecutor, as provided for by Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on the regulation of traffic on all public roads.

During the operation, 303 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication.

In nine cases, the test proved positive, resulting in four official reports being issued. One driving licence was withdrawn on the spot.

The police also recorded six additional traffic offences during the operation.
