On Tuesday 14 July 2026, Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Economy published details of the subsidies aimed at reducing household gas and electricity prices, announced as part of the Resilienzpak 2026.
On Thursday 9 and Tuesday 14 July 2026, the Chamber of Deputies approved subsidies aimed at reducing household gas and electricity prices from Saturday 1 August 2026. These measures were agreed as part of the Resilienzpak 2026, which resulted from the meetings of the Tripartite Coordination Committee held on Tuesday 12 May and on Tuesday 2, Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 June 2026.
Luxembourg Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, stated: “These two subsidies – one on electricity prices and the other on gas prices – provide immediate support to households. They strengthen citizens’ purchasing power and help contain inflation in a context of high volatility in international energy markets. Through these measures, the Government protects households, stabilises energy costs and supports the transition to a more resilient energy system.”
Electricity price subsidy for households
The ministry reported that to strengthen households’ purchasing power and curb inflation in a context of high volatility in international energy markets, while at the same time accelerating the energy transition, the Government has introduced a subsidy of 4 euro cents (including VAT) per kWh on the price of electricity. This measure will be applied automatically to all residential customers with annual electricity consumption below 25,000 kWh, from Saturday 1 August until Thursday 31 December 2026.
This subsidy is in addition to the existing support measures to reduce electricity prices, namely the subsidy on network costs and the State’s funding of the compensation mechanism for 2026, 2027 and 2028.
Gas price subsidy for households
Additionally, to strengthen households’ purchasing power and curb inflation in a context of high volatility in international energy markets, the Government has introduced financial compensation of 15 cents (including VAT) per cubic metre of gas. This measure will be applied automatically to all residential customers from 1 August to 31 December 2026.
These subsidies are in addition to the existing measures reducing the price of heating oil and agricultural diesel by 15 euro cents (including VAT) per litre, and the price of petrol and diesel by 5 cents (including VAT) per litre.
