Several European associations held an information seminar today concerning the European Fund for Strategic Investment (SIEF) to a large audience comprised of private sector professionals, entrepreneurs, bankers and venture capitalists.

The seminar was hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, National Credit & Investment Society (SNCI), European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Investment Fund (EIF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, and formed part of the Investment Plan for Europe. This last project is an ambitious programme which aims to start up investments within the European Union as a support mechanism for the revival of growth and employment.

At the same time, a 'Memorandum of Understanding' between the EIB and the SNCI was signed by Pim van Ballekom, Vice-President of the EIB and Patrick Nickels, President of the SNCI, in the presence of Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna. The two institutions thereby agreed to collaborate, particularly in the context of the SNCI's availability, to dedicate a budget of €80m for financing projects under the Investment Plan for Europe.
