As of 31 December 2020, the population of Luxembourg City had reached 124,528 people, according to figures published by the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg).

During the year 2020, Luxembourg's population increased by 2,255 people, bringing the total number of residents to 124,528 (compared to 122,273 as of 31 December 2019).

Foreign nationals once again made up over 70% of the capital's population last year: there were 87,717 (70.44%) foreign residents of Luxembourg City, compared to 86,360 (70.63%) in 2019. Luxembourg nationals represented 29.56% of the population (36,811 residents), up slightly from  29.37% (35,913 residents) in 2019.

Luxembourg City residents were of 165 different nationalities, with 112,557 coming from Europe, 5,942 from Asia, 2,845 from the Americas, 3,000 from Africa and 114 from Oceania. 39 residents had an indetermined nationality, whilst 31 did not have a nationality.

In terms of gender, men accounted for 51.58% (64,225 residents) of the capital's population, whilst women made up 48.42% (60,303 residents) of the population.
