The Ministry of Culture has announced that Luxembourg will not be present with a national stand at the 2020 edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, taking place from 14 to 18 October.

Whilst the Frankfurt Book Fair is scheduled to go ahead as planned this year, recent developments linked to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a reassessment of Luxembourg's participation as an exhibitor. In view of current circumstances and following discussions with all of the publishers, the Ministry of Culture, Reading Luxembourg and the Federation of Publishers (Fédération des éditeurs) decided by mutual agreement (and based on a unanimous return from publishers) that Luxembourg will not have a stand at this year's fair.

On the other hand, the format adapted from a delegation of editors was retained; interested editors will be supported in their preparations by Reading Luxembourg. At the same time, Reading Luxembourg will take advantage of the digital offers of the Frankfurt Book Fair, the details of which will be known in the coming weeks, while proposing the participation of Luxembourg authors and the presentation of works by Luxembourg publishers in the physical and digital formats of the fair and the Bookfest.

Beyond the effort to promote books in Frankfurt, Reading Luxembourg, together with other figures in the book chain, is working to strengthen the visibility of books and publishing in Luxembourg.
